Isabelle turns 2

Isabelle turns 2 today. I feel a sense of pride just looking at her, yet a little sappy. Time seemed to have passed by in a flash, it seems like she was just a newborn in my arms yesterday. And now she is an independent and capable toddler, who is mostly able to express her wants and needs.

We decided that this year we would keep the celebration small. So there was no big party, no invites. We celebrated her birthday in school with her friends. Unfortunately she was so overwhelmed by all the attention given to her that she started crying, and only stopped once the blowing of candles and cutting of the cake was done. Well, at least she did enjoy the birthday cake. My parents thought it would be a nice idea to bring balloons for all the kids in her class. Err, it was kind of a bad idea, they went wild and started waving their balloons from left to right, dipping into the birthday cake and then brushing off each other's clothes and staining them with cream. We had to take them away from the kids and let them focus on eating the cake instead.

In celebration of Isabelle's birthday we had some special guest, my parents of course. They came all the way from Malaysia to spend this week with Isabelle, for which I'm so thankful for since family presence is so important to Isabelle plus the fact that I injured my foot (more about these in another post). Isabelle was delighted to see my parents when she returned home. We ended the day with dinner at Swensens; Isabelle enjoyed her meal very much, while the adults found the food a big disappointment. Well, I guess it did not matter when we saw her finishing her meal and eating away happily.

So HAPPY BIRTHDAY ISABELLE! MUMMY & PAPA LOVE YOU LOTS. And just in case you didn't know, papa blew your balloon the largest so that it would be extra special :)
