Isabelle turned 6 months old in Oct, it felt like she had grown up so much suddenly. Firstly, she was able to sit up independently on her own. Secondly, she started showing a lot of awareness of her surrondings, her likes and dislikes.... and thirdly, she started on solids.
I really enjoy planning Isabelle's meals. I'm not sure if she enjoys everything we give her, I dont really give her a choice.... I want to introduce her to as many different types of fruits and vegetables at a young age so that she will not grow up to be a fussy eater. Thankfully, she finishes everything that we feed her, except for her 1st encounter with Mr Potato... for some reason she hated the taste of potato initially.
Her meal schedule is as follows:
830am: 220ml of EBM
10am: 1 tbsp of fruit
12pm: Rice cereal with 1 tbsp of vegetable
230pm: 180ml of EBM
4pm: 1tbsp of fruit
630pm: Brown rice /Multigrain cereal with 1 tbsp of vegetable
10pm: 150-170ml of EBM
Fruits and vegetables she has tried to date:
Potato, Sweet Potato, Butternut squash, Pumpkin, Spinach, Carrot, Peas, Brocolli
Apple, Pear, Banana, Papaya, Blueberries, Peach, Watermelon
Isabelle's is a fast eater most of the time. But sometimes, she feels bored of her meals (ok, this may be due to the 3 day rule and having the same repeated veg/fruit is definitely boring her) and needs some distraction. And so I have become that part-time entertainer whenever I am home. Sometimes I'm a singer or a dancer, but most times I am a clown doing silly acts & making funny faces or a juggler (she gets thrilled to see things thrown up in the air) or even a drummer. I just do whatever it takes to make her open her mouth wide. Honestly, I never expected that I would have to act silly to make Isabelle finish her food...; the irony is I find it a joy to be doing this, to just let my guard down and be myself, having fun with my baby.
Having Isabelle has made me realise its the simple things in life which makes us happy!
