Valentine's

Valentine's Day this year has brought a new meaning to my life. While in the past it was with the husband (if he wasn't travelling), now I have Isabelle with me and though the day passed pretty much like any other day, there is nothing sweeter than having the little one say "I Love You" and smothering me with hugs & kisses.

Today I also had an interesting conversation with a friend at work. It goes something like this!

Me: Hmmm...I wonder if the school will get Isabelle to make me something for Valentine's day. Hahahah... I'm so thick skin

Friend: No la...Mother's Day more likely. Why would the school teach children so young about Valentine's Day?

Me: Hmmm...I guess so

And so I was thrilled and surprise to see a heart sticking out of Isabelle's bag when I picked her up today. Lao Shi also prompted Isabelle to wish me "Happy Valentine's Day!" How sweet!

I can just imagine the effort the teachers put to help the toddlers to make this heart. Although the red heart must have been pre-cut earlier, but guiding 8 active toddlers to paste balls of crepe paper is no joke. I mean...just imagine 8 active & excited toddlers all rushing for the glue & paper and making a mess, and making sure they don't put their fingers filled with glue to their mouth!I am seriously touched that they made this effort with the playgroup toddlers who are all under 2 years old.

And of course, thanks to my sweetheart Isabelle for making this lovely heart. No words can express how happy & touched I was to see it. I'm going to get a nice box to store all these little treasures....

P/S: Note to self, Valentine's Day is not just about something romantic, but also a day to express our love for all our dear ones. A good reminder today was seeing my secretary's happy face when her 30+ year old daughter sent her a pot of cupcake flowers, which she proudly shared with us. And closer to heart, receiving a gift from Isabelle. This reminds me that I ought to do something for my parents on Valentine's Day too
