Peak Drop Off Time

Today we were late to school.... well not actually late, cos school officially starts at 9 and if Isabelle's late, then i am SUPER late. But anyway, we were later than usual cos mummy aka ME bumped into our neighbour and started chatting away, since we are busy mums (well, busier still for my neighbour cos she is a mother of 4!)and hardly have the time to catch-up. And so when's there's the chance, we just cant help sharing tips and talking about the kids.

I figured....and now conclude, the peak drop off time is 805-810am. I guess most parents would leave their homes at 8am. And so when we reached the school, there were so many cars lined up on both sides of the narrow lane, some parked orderly, some in random (slot in) positions...and so I thought i would reverse out first so that i can exit out more easily later. Unfortunately by the time I was done with my 3 point turn, more cars started coming in leaving me with no place to park. Argghghghghg....panic panic...and so I started driving away from the school to find somewhere else to park. That's when the crying and fussing started....Isabelle started making a fuss, crying and kicking her car seat...shouting Aisa! Aisa! (it's amusing, she did not say school but instead called out for her best friend's name). That's when I realised that she must have thought I decided not to send her to school. More panic...as I really had no clue where to park, and so i decided to just park in front of the rubbish dump of a condo nearby (yea, how strategic!). The minuted I pulled over, Isabelle stopped crying, screaming...she smiled again, and waited excitedly for me to unbuckle her.

Needless to say, I can only conclude that she loves school so much (and I guess her best friend even more).

I guess I should be a happy mum that my little one is enjoying school!

Note to myself - I need to avoid the peak drop off times. It's a major disaster to be parking & reversing in a tiny lane with more than 10 cars coming in at any one point in time. Too stressful!
