Busy November Weekend

The weekend which just passed was packed with activities, a great time of family bonding and one blessed with good news.

D was home to take over the stay at home duties of looking after Isabelle on Thurs & Fri while I returned to work. He did an amazing job, bathing & cooking for Isabelle, to the point of sacrificing himself. As he's not as "fast" as me, cooking lunch for himself would be far too stressful. So poor D had cup noodles for lunch. And unfortunately as I was working, dinner had to be very fast & simple.

On Sat, we planned to take an early morning walk at Gardens By The Bay since Isabelle wakes up early these days. Unfortunately the gardens only open at 9, and we were too early. And since the flower dome only opens at 10, we decided to walk over the link bridge to MBS for breakfast, only to end up in a tour of the MBS (cos we were lost and didn't know where to go). This was followed by a quick pop over to Ikea to get a kids table & chair for Isabelle, then to Vivo City for lunch and stopover at Toys'R Us. Too much overdue shopping which had been postponed as Isabelle was sick. In the evening, we popped into the pool for some water fun, followed by a quick trip to NTUC Finest to pick up some steaks for dinner. Yummy yummy. It was a great Saturday well spent, but probably a tad too much activities as both D & I felt our poor feet feeling sore :(

Sunday was mainly spent in church. It was Feast Day for our church, and Isabelle got a mini crown at the childrens liturgy. We also enjoyed some free breakfast after mass, before going to town for dim sum. More food! No wonder I feel fat after this weekend.

Now for the good news. D will be returning back and based in Singapore. In the recent months, we have been praying that D can be posted back to SIngapore earlier before his 1 year secondment ends, and our prayers have been answered. Thanks to family and friends who have prayed and journeyed with us through this time, giving me lots of encouragement & support when I was down, when Isabelle was sick, and lots more. Although the position is not what D really wants, it's still within the role he does and will allow us to have more family time together, especially when we have so little family help with us here. It is also probably the best thing for us at this moment, as I have been tasked to work towards certain goals in 2012 at work, and I would really want to achieve them before slowing down in my career. Most likely D will be back for good by Christmas, and this is the best present ever. Thank You Lord for answering our prayers. Just few more weeks to go of "single parenting", so I'm hanging in there. D & I are looking forward, we've seen the joy in Isabelle's face to have both daddy & mummy beside her. When she walks in the park, she wants to hold both our hands... it's a warm fuzzy feeling seeing her smile and look up at us.
