Feeling proud of my little girl

Today I received the most unexpected compliment from one of the K2 teachers in Isabelle's school. Mrs Loh told me how polite Isabelle was, that she was the only kid in playgroup who greeted her as she walked into the kitchen yesterday, while all the other children just looked up and then continued eating. Mrs Loh said she was pleasantly surprised and felt really happy as this came rather unexpected. She continued to repeat this story as I handed Isabelle over to her class teacher Ms Amy. The little one, obviously knowing we must be praising her must have been thrilled, for she thanked Ms Amy so loudly when a puzzle was handed over to her. Both teachers were obviously pleased, and continued on to tell me how lovable Isabelle is.

I couldn't help but feel proud of my little girl. I am also finally seeing all the efforts I have been putting all these months paying off. Everywhere we go, whoever we meet, I always encourage Isabelle to greet the people we meet and say goodbye when we leave. I spend a lot of time repeating this over and over again, despite her shyness sometimes, that especially at goodbyes, it may almost seem like we are reluctant to leave. These days she is still shy to greet people she meets for the first time. Goodbyes are usually easy as she would have warmed up. But to all the familiar faces in her life, she greets these poeple almost automatically with a big smile and even hug sometimes. She remembers their names, each and everyone of them, all the teachers in school across all the levels, and family and friends I meet regularly. Even our paed is totally smitten by Isabelle.

To my little Isabelle... mummy is so proud of you. Thanks for spreading your love and joy to all the people we meet.
