Perfect Sunday

Today was the first Sunday in a long while when the husband was not back that I've felt good. It's been a long while since I've felt so positive and energized and able to do so much just on my own.

The day started early at 7am. I was really dreading to get out of bed but upon realizing that I had planned to make shepherds pie for lunch, the lazy me jumped out of bed immediately. So yea I was sweating it out in the kitchen at 715 in the morning boiling potatoes, cooking the filling for the pie as well as pre cook a meal for the weekdays. All 3 rings on the stove were busy and at one point the kitchen was so stuffy from all that cooking, I almost could not breathe. Anyway all was done by 8 and I quickly rushed for a shower before Isabelle wakes up.

After Isabelle's breakfast, we headed to the park and I decided to give myself a treat at McDonald's after all that hard work this morning. Isabelle had my hash brown while I had the burger, after which we set off for a 1km+ of leisurely walk around the park. We stopped to admire the clear blue sky and listen to the birds chirp, we watched kids learning to roller blade and we explored a new playground at the far end of the park. And I am proud to say Isabelle walked the entire distance on her own except the last 100 meters. We ended our trip at the park with some play time at our condo playground and would have stayed longer if not for the light rain. As it was only 1030, I decided to pop in to J8 to get done fruits and a sticker book for Isabelle before coming home for lunch.

After Isabelle's nap, we hit the pool for swimming time. It was the best thing to do on a hot sunny afternoon. I convinced Isabelle to try swimming/paddling with her floats on and we actually did quite a number of laps. Really proud of her as she swallowed quite a bit of water at the start when she panicked and struggled, but she never cried and instead pushed on. We ended with some fun time at the kids pool where she gave me so many hugs and kisses while shouting "happy, happy mummy!".

No our list of activities does not end yet. My aunt called in the afternoon cos she missed Isabelle. And so I brought Isabelle over for tea at 530. My aunt spoiled Isabelle with 2 cups of Ribena, as we chatted in the kitchen. I am really thankful that Isabelle has so many grand aunts ( my aunties ) who love her so very very much. Every time they call my mum, they never fail to ask about Isabelle as if she was their own grandchild too. I left at 645 as I had to prepare dinner. I guess Isabelle must have been very hungry after so many activities for the day, she ate so well that I wonder if I need to do this every weekend!

I am feeling thankful that I even had so much energy to do all these on my own and still manage all the housework today. There are weekends when I feel just too tired to do anything, but today everything was just perfect, I was happy to cook, clean, wash but most importantly spend so much time doing all isabelle's favourite activities. I could not have asked for a more perfect Sunday than today!
