Friendships at Age 2

It amazes me till today how friendships form at the age of 2 (to be exact at 19 months!). i am referring to Isabelle and her good friend Aisa. I often wonder what attracted them to each other, amongst the many other kids. It seems from Day 1 Aisa who had joined 2 months earlier, welcomed Isabelle warmly and i briefly recall Aisa waving furiously bye bye to Isabelle when I pick her up. Even Aisa's sister Lisa would join in to shout out "bye bye Isabelle".

I've observed over the months...
(1) Isabelle looks out for Aisa the moment she gets into school. She's the first person she wants to see besides her morning duty teacher Ms AMy. All the teachers know about their friendship, that after the temperature check, they would say to Isabelle..."Aisa is waiting for you"

(2) Aisa's eyes actually open up bright and smiles in delight to see Isabelle every morning (Aisa is the early one, and waiting patiently for Isabelle's arrival)

(3)Isabelle reports to me about Aisa everyday...eg. Aisa poo poo today! Aisa not here (not in school)today.

(4)Isabelle associates everything about school with Aisa

(5)They must be influencing each other in the choice of attire. Aisa was going thru a phase when she only wanted to wear PE attire to school, she's since gone back to being girly and only wanting the pinafore dress. However it's now Isabelle's turn to insist on the PE attire. Isabelle has been asking to wear her red shoes to school, instead of the casual sandals. I soon noticed that Aisa has been wearing her black patent party shoes to school instead of her casual sandals too!

(5)Just last week, I was at the school to pick up Isabelle and Aisa was standing at the waiting area while her mummy talked to the teacher. Aisa quickly ran to get Isabelle shoe's and wanted to assist her to wear them. I prompted Isabelle to say thank you, and before I knew it...Isabelle ran forward and gave Aisa a big warm hug. That really took me & Aisa's mummy by surprise, and we could not stop smiling.

Their friendship is innocenet, warm and genuine, and they are like companions looking out for each other. They dont't really talk to each other (maybe some toddler language) but their actions say it all. I wonder if this friendship of theirs will continue in time to come? It also reminds me how different are the friendships formed when we become teenagers and adults. The feelings may not be so mutual, we judge and form opinions about the people around us, we give but expect something in return, we change ourselves to feel accepted.

I really hope they stay best of friends forever, and some day I hope I can share all my observations with Isabelle on her friendship with her dear friend.
