Toddler Language

Just thought I will document the funny pronounciations I hear these days for memories one day.

Isabelle is starting to talk a lot more, and it tickles me sometimes as she really wants to say the more difficult words than the simple ones.

Here are some of them ( and I will add on more as I remember them)

Elephant: Elf-phant
Octopus: Oct-pus
Zebra: Zz (extremely silent)...BRA (with great emphasis). This tickles me a lot!
Butterfly: But...FLY
Horse: Hor...followed by Ho Ho Ho...and some giggling
Aeroplane: Ae-plane
Banana: Ba-na
Brocolli: Bro-ly

It seems she is struggling with the 3 syllable words, but is missing the middle part. Anyhow, it's always a pleasure and surprise to hear her blurting new words everyday.

Oh... and I'm slightly shocked that she is able to use words to express the position of an object or place.

Examples include telling me the bread shop is there, but as we approach it...and I ask her again...she tells me here. Similarly for inside and outside.

I don't think I have really taught her this (maybe indirectly through bedtime stories), so I think she learns it from school. I have seen the worksheets she has done in school, and it is taught in a fun way of cutting & pasting objects to show their position. I'm just glad we decided to send her to school, it's obviously paying off versus staying at home with a helper who doesnt talk to her at all.

I'm excited and looking forward to hearing her talk more soon!
