Jesus is in our hearts

I'm amazed at how a child can comprehend Jesus in their lives. Isabelle attends the children's liturgy at mass every weekend. I don't know if she absorbs anything out of this honestly, besides the songs sung...mainly the "I Believe" and "Alleluia". Yesterday's homily was on Ephinany,a celebration of Jesus entering into our lives. The homily was further explained by distributing paper cut hearts to all the children, and praying together over them. It all seems like a very simple act, however I was stunned at Isabelle's response later that night when we returned home.

Me: Isabelle, where is Jesus?
Isabelle: (points to her chest, where the heart is)...and shouts out...HERE!

I was speechless.

Me: Isabelle, do you really believe Jesus is in your heart?
Isabelle: (reaffirms by pointing to her chest again...and this time louder still)...HERE!

It's amazing I know, but I'm really happy & touched that Isabelle knows that Jesus lives in our hearts.

Today, I decided to bring her for the Adoration for Children held once a month. I literally had to kick my butt to get out of the house...was feeling rather lazy...but glad I did it...though I'm feeling really tired now. While Isabelle was rather restless mid way through (the Adoration is really more suitable for older children), I am glad I brought her along to introduce God in our lives. What impressed me most was she actually was able to understand instructions, and lay prostrate to bow to the cross. In fact, it amused the coordinators slightly as she bowed down the minute the priest entered the room with the eucharist (we should only be kneeling first, and then bowing in respect later on).

I hope this will be a good start to our year in introducing Jesus and our faith to Isabelle.
