We visted the paed today for Isabelle's pneumococal jab, plus the regular check up. I was kinda excited to know Isabelle's weight. We had taken her weight at home a couple of times, the scale indicated that Isabelle was approx 9kg. I believed it to be true cos my arms have been aching lately when I carry Isabelle. Unfortunately, it wasn't true. Our dear baby is only 8kg!!!! Some weight increase, but still at the 10% percentile. Sigh...
Being a mother, I can't help worrying. Isabelle is definitely eating more than before, so why isn't she putting on weight. Is there something I am not doing right? Should I force feed her more? I have been taking quite a lot of leave in the last month, and mainly to introduce new food to Isabelle, make some special home made meals for her like fish pie, meat pie, chicken meat balls, honey glazed salmon, tomato meat sauce pasta, all of which she eats happily.... argghhh, but the weight just wont increase! How I wish that problem was passed on to hubs & I. We would be most glad to be able to eat and not gain any weight..hahahaah
On the brighter side, the paed was impressed that at 10% percentile, Isabelle has hardly been ill. Yes amazing isn't it. I hear of friend's baby who have flu, cold, cough or a fever after the vaccination, but Isabelle fortunately has never encountered these. So in a way, all the nutrients from her food has been used in some good way, except that she is not growing up enough. I do believe its her intake of fruits & vegetables which helps in this area. Isabelle loves her cereal with either mashed peas or butternut squash. She loves all sorts of fruits, especially grapes, kiwi and melon, and has at least 2 portions of fruits a day. Kids these days are so fortunate. At our age or our parents time, who could afford eating such fruits?
6 more days to turning 1, Isabelle is definitely walking. She now can wave bye bye and claps her hands when she is happy. She moves her hands to her favourite tunes from the Barney shows. Shouts 'ar ar' to get our attention or if she has accidentally poo-ed in her diapers. She loves flipping her books in the evenings, laughs & giggles in response to us. Our baby......... our precious one!
