Its been some time since I blogged, and wanted to make sure I note down Isabelle's developments in the last month.
Feeding
Isabelle went through literally a roller coaster path in the last one month. In Jan, I brought her to the paed for a vaccination, and found that she was only 6.9kg at 9 months, less than 10% percentile. The paed was a little worried, and recommended that we took a test to check Isabelle's thyroid levels and also to visit a dietician. Test results were fine. But unfortunately her appetite kind of slipped downhill even more after the dietician's visit. The harder we tried to give her new food to increase her calories intake, the more rejected it. It may have purely been a coincidence to teething pains, but it really broke my heart when I saw Isabelle not having any appetite to eat any of her meals.
Now at 10 months, I am pleased to say, Isabelle is now 7.5kg. Errm, I know this is still below the average weight, but still we must have been doing something right cos her weight has increased. We have 1 more month to bring her weight up to at least 8kg. Gonna work harder! I'm really glad she's starting to enjoy her meals more. So far, we've introduced cheese, yoghurt, cornflakes, baby biscotti, macaroni. And I make sure that she has something different everyday for breakfast/lunch/dinner. No repetitions for 2 consecutive days. Some people may say I am spoiling Isabelle, but seriously, nothing beats seeing your child finally enjoying her meals, opening her mouth wide and chewing her food with a big smile on her face!
Sleeping
We changed the timing of Isabelle's sleeping pattern a week ago. Previously she would go to bed at 830pm, and we would dream feed her at 10pm. But then we found she was in so deep sleep, she could no longer dream feed. So now we play and read and have her milk feed, then put her to bed by 930pm, and she's off to sleep all the way till morning. Really beautiful! Now D and I have time to log in to work, watch some TV or even go to bed early.
The other beautiful thing is how Isabelle cuddles up to us to sleep every night. She usually climbs all over us, going back and forth between D and I, and finally when she is tired out, she would come over to either one of us, cuddle up and fall asleep. There are many funny positions though, one of which is lying over my tummy or thighs, resting there till she falls asleep. Brings a smile on my face just thinking about it.
Play
Haha..Play is what Isabelle is best at. Our active baby is a true star in this area. If there are people around, there is an activity for her, there is motion or sound around her, Isabelle is ready to play....no matter how tired she is. I love seeing Isabelle taking tiny steps, doing some funny dance movements of sort, or how she gets into a crawling position, and then wobbles about as if she was horse riding.
Time passes so fast, our baby will be turning a year old soon. Can't wait to see more of your milestones!
