Attended the second session of infant baptism, and the coordinator asked us a simple question. What is Love? Many of us popped answers like caring, sharing, tolerance, "i like you, you like me" (hahaha, this was a candid response & very amusing indeed...doesn't it remind you of when you first fell in love?). But the real answer is SACRIFICE.
Very very true indeed. Jesus died for us cos he loved us. True love is sacrifice. When you are willing to give your all, giving without expecting anything in return, to the extent of dying for someone....that is love. And i guess that sums up my feelings for Isabelle. I want to give my all for her, 100% and even more. I do not mind giving up my social life, my shopping, my sleep, well almost everything, just for her. And that's exactly what my parents have been doing for me all these years, up till today. Sacrificing their retirement years to care for Isabelle and give me a break. Love for our children stretches a lifetime indeed. It's a long journey, and undeniably a lot of pains, heartaches and sacrifice.
Today I am reminded of my duty & responsibility as a mother & parent. That I love my child and that means sacrificing, without complaining. Thank you dear Lord for this humble lesson & reminder today!
