The joy of motherhood

I was feeling rather tired today and it was almost bedtime. In a bid to convince Isabelle to stop jumping and get into sleeping mode, I lay down on the mattress, all limp and said mummy's tired, let's go to sleep. But isabelle wasn't convinced and so I exaggerated further and said mummy's not feeling well.

To my surprise the little one came to give me a hug and a kiss and said, "mummy are you ok?". When I shook my head, she looked at me more seriously, blew into my ears, my eyes, patted me on the head and my back, and ended with hugs and kisses again and asked once more " mummy are you alright?". When I nodded with a smile, she was delighted and said " just like mummy".

I never really realised the little things I did to comfort her when she was unwell. It almost made me tear to know she remembers it all. The joy and reward of being a mother, truly priceless.
